Mamona with Enlightenment on N800
It has been a while since I promised a post about Mamona booting on N800.
I haven’t post anything before because there is no beauty in a text mode booting. But now Aloisio has been done a good work to setup the Enlightenment in Mamona. He has been used OpenEmbedded to build the packages from Enlightenment’s cvs.
Check this out:
This is the boot of Mamona + Enlightenment on N800.
* Aloisio is a new INdT developer working on Mamona Project.
Looks great. When we can expect first beta release for N800? Month or two from now?
[...] Here in INdT, my first task was make enlightenment run in n800 over Mamona! Vivi helped me with this task and we make it work! More details look here. [...]
Pá-rá-béns!
Just to clarify, is the plan is for Mamona to eventually use Hildon/Matchbox/etc and be binary compatible with Nokia’s ITOS? Or is binary compatibility not possible?
Being able to run other window managers is great too, of course. But will matchbox-keyboard or something like it work in E?
In any case, many people are excited about what you’re working on
My dream tablet OS would be straight Debian armel with a separate repository providing all of the latest Maemo/Hildon stuff, built for Debian. So, I would be able to do apt-get upgrades from security.debian.org (after armel hits testing there) but also still be able to run (most likely recompiled versions of) all the hildonized apps I want. Is this a pipe dream?
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I want this.
