This video shows the screen rotation on a Nokia N800. We have here an Enlightenment running on Mamona distro where each navigation button is associated with an xrandr command, e.g. LEFT: xrandr -o left.
I’ve implemented the xrandr support to Xomap (1.3.99) and the LCD controller rotation support on Linux-omap kernel. It is a very fast rotation since its made directly by the Epson LCD controller. The X is responsible to deal with mouse events and to change the resolution.
Lauro and Aloisio helped me with the Linux-omap patch that was already accept and applied to linux omap git tree.

Nice
I want it in OE so will replace Maemo one with this one
Not to denegrate the great work on Mamona, but I wonder how Matchbox/Hildon would look/work under hardware rotation. Possible you could show us the results there?
No, seriously, this is the most amazing thing I have ever seen on a Internet Tablet since Canola2.
You definitively should pack it all (Mamona + Enlightenment + Xrander + everything else) in a box and publish it in a easy way to install!
Keep up the great work!
Are there patches for this somewhere? I don’t even care if they apply cleanly as long as it gives me someplace to start. This looks great and I’m *very* interested in this. Thanks for the great work!

if one could do that to maemo while using the pdf reader or similar, it would be heaven.
with it and the screen, one could probably fit some pdfs on there in full size.
hell, maybe even some webpages could fit that way
Wow! A dream come true
Hi all,
I’ve already update the post and published my patches. I completely forgot it when blogging.
I haven’t try them on Hildon desktop but I believe that it will work fine. If you get it done please let me know!
Obviously I’m going to put my patches on OE database!
Thank you all for the good comments.
Oh wow, this plus KDE would be awesome.
Rodrigo,
I have n800 with os2008 using Fanoush dual boot and Penguinbaits KDE hack on mmc card with two class 6 – 16gb sdhc cards. Will your rotation work on this setup? I’m a newbie who has been able to install alot of crazy stuff(usb host, ethernet usb, vnc etc..) Want to take a crack at this rotation if you can provide install instructions I can understand. Also if possible how do I add your boot menu distro to my existing fanoush dual boot setup. It looks possible to add to boot menu and I have 10gb still on card for crazy installs like yours. Have you had a look at the tilt stick(http://www.harbaum.org/till/tiltstick/index.shtml) you might be able to create an even more powerful rotation app with the tiltstick. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can you drop me an email if you have time. Many thanks, Dan
it would be better with other languages support, but thanks..
Do you know who takes care of http://sse2.net/rotate/? Their links no longer work (it seems http://outpo.st is down, and that’s where they hosted the .deb file they created). I would really like to try this, but I’m too much of a beginner to attempt anything but installing a .deb. Thanks!
